HAWAII THEATRE SAFETY POLICIES & PROCEDURES
The Hawai‘i Theatre Center is committed to the health and safety of our performers, staff, and community. What follows is the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for returning to work & allowing guests admission to the Theatre Auditorium amidst the pandemic COVID-19. These plans have been developed using guidance from the CDC, our state, medical professionals, the League of American Orchestras, and the American Federation of Musicians. We will continue to reevaluate these safety procedures as more information becomes available and make adjustments to keep your safety as our top priority.
Day of Attendance – COVID-19 Self-Checklist:
The morning of your visit you must complete the following daily self-checklist. The daily self-checklist is mandatory and failure to confirm to HTC Staff that you have completed it will result in denied access to the venue that day.
1) Do you have a fever (temperature over 100.3F)
2) Do you have a loss of smell of taste?
3) Do you have a cough?
4) Do you have muscles aches?
5) Do you have shortness of breath?
6) Do you have chills?
7) Do you have a headache?
8) Have you experienced any gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite?
9) Have you, or anyone you have been in close contact with been diagnosed with COVID-19, or been placed in quarantine for possible contact with COVID-19?
10) Have you been asked to self-isolate or quarantine by a medical professional or a local public health official?
11) Are you subject to the State of Hawaii mandatory 14-day quarantine for out-of-state travel?
If you reply YES to any of these questions, please stay home, get tested for COVID-19 and do not attend any public events.
Entering and Exiting:
The Front Entry Door nearest the Box Office is the only door available as you enter the building. Do not use any other entry to the buildings during this time. We will keep an accurate head count of everyone in the venue and need your help in keeping our workplace safe and secure.
If you arrive to work wearing gloves, you will be asked to throw them away before entering the building due to cross contamination.
As you enter the venue, your temperature will be checked with an infrared, no-touch thermometer. This involves a quick, no-contact scan of your forehead. If you have a fever of 100.4F or greater, you will not be permitted to enter.
Hand sanitizing stations will be available for use upon the entry at the door.
Face Coverings:
In accordance with CDC recommendations, physical respiratory protection such as a cloth face covering must be worn at all times because (a) COVID-19 is spread through respiratory droplets and (b) significant number of infected people will show no outward symptoms of illness.
If you do not have a face covering, one will be provided to you before entering the venue. The HTC has obtained cloth face coverings for use. Face coverings will be worn at all times while on the Hawaii Theatre Center Premises.
Hand Washing:
Frequent hand washing with soap is vital to help combat the spread of any virus. When a sink is available, patrons and employees should wash their hands for twenty seconds and dry thoroughly with a disposable towel. As a backup, you may use sanitizer containing at least 60% ethanol or 70% isopropanol when a sink is not available. Wash your hands upon entry to the facility, at each break, after using the restroom, sneezing, touching your face, blowing your nose, eating, or drinking.
Physical Distancing:
No handshakes, hugs, or other personal contact is permitted. Patrons and staff must not congregate before, during, or after any gathering.
Please yield to your colleagues and other patrons when necessary and always maintain the appropriate 6-foot distance between people.
Only one person is allowed in each restroom at a time. Please wait patiently for your turn to use the facilities.
Concession Purchases:
All purchases of concessions will be handled on a cashless basis. Patrons are encouraged to pre-purchase all items on the theatre’s website. This will reduce wait times at the service bars, and avoid issues related to required physical distancing requirements.
