If you hear someone mention “Tom Petty Tribute Band,” and you think blonde wigs or dyed blonde hair and a mediocre-at-best vocal performance, then you haven’t been to a Breakers show.
The Breakers are a no-frills rock band who meticulously capture the Tom Petty sound and forge a deep, emotional connection with their audience. When asked why they didn’t go for the impersonation and prop-driven approach, founder Tom Smith explains, “We wanted to approach the tribute genre as a true live band, and in (lead vocalist) Chris Chartier, we have what no one else has – the most genuine sounding Petty experience in the country.”
The members of the Breakers come from a background of recording and touring with original bands, bringing the same passion and dedication to performing the music of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. They’ve paid tireless attention to every detail of each song, appealing to both casual listeners and diehard fans alike. Forming in the fall of 2018, they spent months perfecting their sound before performing, respecting the music and legacy of Tom Petty. In May 2019, they posted a homemade video compilation to YouTube, which garnered over 12k views in just a few months.
Debuting in August 2019 in Newport, RI, to an emotional and packed house, the Breakers quickly proved they were the real deal. Their next show sold out at the Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River, MA. With only a handful of performances under their belts, the Breakers were signed exclusively by Blue Raven Entertainment and are now booking venues across the U.S.
If you want to experience the authentic sound of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, there's only one band that delivers it—The Breakers. No wigs, no top hats, no Mad Hatter costumes, no Stevie Nicks, no BS.
And joining the Breakers on stage for their upcoming show is Henry Kapono Foundation On the Rise artist Jacob Staron. Since arriving in Oahu in 2014, Jacob has released two albums with his band Hook and Line, as well as a solo album, with more new music expected. Beyond performing, Jacob is a respected music educator and the owner of The Music Garden, where he teaches string instruments including violin, cello, bass, guitar, ukulele, mandolin, and more. With his deep musical background and talent, Jacob is sure to add a unique and energetic element to this unforgettable show.
