The Pacific Basin Music Festival is an international event, bringing together talented junior high, high school, community, and college level bands and choirs from countries of the Pacific Basin and beyond. Festival activities include adjudicated and outdoor group performances, a full ensemble workshop, a luau, exchange rehearsals, and the festival command concert at the Hawaii Theatre. One adjudicated ensemble has also been selected to work with the festival’s composer-in-residence to develop a commissioned work that will be premiered at Hawaii Theatre. In the past, groups have attended from countries such as Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Tonga, the United States, and the territory of Guam. This is a unique opportunity for national and international exchange through social functions and music. Students and directors will have access to outstanding international educators, conductors, and clinicians in a positive and meaningful environment.
