Pat Sajak, just retired as host of the popular Wheel of Fortune game show following 41 seasons, and his long-time buddy Joe Moore return to the Hawaii Theatre Center main stage in 2025, starring in William Link and Richard Levinson’s original Columbo mystery thriller, Prescription: Murder, with all of the net proceeds for the show going to support the Hawaii Theatre Center. Sajak and Moore will be joined by supporting cast members Bryce Moore, Therese Olival, Amy K. Sullivan, and Aiko Chinen. Multi Po’okela winner Rob Duval directs the production. Providing the inspiration for the TV series Columbo, this theatrical predecessor tells the story of a brilliant psychiatrist (Sajak) and his mistress (Olival) who hatch a plot to murder his neurotic and possessive wife (Sullivan) that depends on a bizarre impersonation to create a perfect alibi. Lt. Columbo (Moore) is assigned to the case and engages the psychiatrist in a cat-and-mouse battle of wits right up till the play’s surprising climax. Complicating the case is the psychiatrist’s personal friend, the Asst. District Attorney (Bryce Moore). Facemasks are encouraged in the venue.
